Benjamin Punchard, Head of Packaging Research at Euromonitor, explains how companies are using innovation in their product packaging to reach out to tech-savvy consumers. Generation Z, or 9-19 year olds, make up 21% of the world’s population, so it’s no surprise companies are trying to reach out to that demographic. With products like the Cadbury SMS Chocolate bar, companies are attempting to draw in a sense of familiarity with young consumers. But it’s not just Generation Z consumers that use technology; and companies are responding to those trends with products like wine recommending cell phone apps.
