World’s Most Polluted Cities

Many world’s metropolises register their air pollution metrics above the respective guidelines by the World Health Organisation. The highest concentration of air pollutants is found in developing megacities, where it is caused by the unreasonable distribution of industrial sites, non-progressive production methods and unsustainable transportation. Nonetheless, smaller (such as Skopje) and developed (such as Phoenix) metropolises are not immune to air pollution problems, which are usually aggravated by unfavourable geographic location (in a valley or in proximity to a desert).
