Samsung, LG and HTC have all released new smartphones in 2014 but Apple and Nokia have remained silent on any product releases for 2014 so far. The latest iPhone is expected to be released in the fall of 2014 with a larger screen and a compliment of wearable devices to combat products such as the Galaxy Gear from Samsung. This is an important release for Apple as North American consumers are leaning towards low cost Android phones. It is unlikely that Nokia will release a new phone in 2014 after the company’s purchase by Microsoft but should begin a new approach to hardware and software in order for future Windows-based phones to gain wider acceptance.
