Poland is a prime target for retail investors due to its healthy economy and large market size. Discounters are of particular interest in the country, where the leading three discounter chains have over two thousand outlets each. Recent acquisitions in the sector, including twenty Aldik stores by the Maxima Grupe are paving the way for more mergers and acquisitions. This activity, coupled with a forecasted annual GDP growth of 4 percent over the next five years, means retailing in Poland will increase noticeably.
