Multinational Exits Give Local Players a Chance in Western Europe’s Tissue and Hygiene Market

 

Recently, Kimberly-Clark announced it would be exiting the nappies and diaper market in Western Europe. This follows a recent trend of multinational corporations leaving Western Europe; examples include Georgia Pacific’s tissue operations and P&G’s towels and tissue manufacturing. Local companies such as SCA Group and Ontex are looking to become the next big players in this region, but will face battles from private labels and from P&G, which is still the largest tissue and hygiene company in Western Europe.
