Consumers Demanding Convenience and Authenticity in Packaged Food

Consumers not only want convenience but authenticity in their packaged food. Ready meals, for example, carry a stigma as a lazy alternative to a home cooked meal, so the challenge is for manufacturers to add authenticity to their convenient products. In France, grated cooking cheese products are being produced specifically for pizza or salads. These products are convenient because they come pre-grated, and authentic because the cheese is still an ingredient in a larger meal. Similar products can be launched in meat, sauces and spreads.
