Baby Food in Kazakhstan

The contribution of women to household incomes and their involvement in the workforce in Kazakhstan is creating demand for baby food, states Violeta Mordas, Research Analyst at Euromonitor International. In fact, per capita consumption on baby food in Kazakhstan has doubled from almost  $3 in 2006, to more than $6 in 2011. However, spending on baby food is still low compared to most other European countries. One of the reasons for this is the belief of consumers in rural areas of Kazakhstan that home-made food is healthier than pre-made baby food.
