Russian Air Travel Rising, Yet Minimal Foreign Involvement
Despite being a vast market, Russia’s low cost carriers (LCC) segment is still in a relatively poor condition. After the bankruptcy of the two main LCCs, Avianova and Sky Express in 2011, there are no domestic budget players operating in the country. And yet there is a strong demand for affordable air travel. Moscow retains its leading place as a major airport hub and the most visited city among foreign visitors in 2012.
