Foodservice is one of the industries that’s in the spotlight during the coronavirus pandemic, with global operators either ceasing business altogether or switching to a delivery/takeaway model. This is no easy feat, as delivery is tough to adapt to even in times of economic stability.
For independent, full-service restaurants, things will get extremely bad, with possible closings around 40 per cent in some of the hardest-hit markets. Looking toward the future, we can expect eat-in traffic for most markets significantly declining.
