Session title: The post-pandemic world: how can tourism innovate?

Session description: Tourism has lived perhaps the biggest crisis in its entire history since 2020, due to the new coronavirus pandemic. Quickly, the mounting concern with hygiene protocols, social distancing measures, and the adoption of a consumer-centered approach began to set the tone for survival and recovery strategies in the industry. As a result, innovation in tourism has been driven by the accelerated pursuit of digitization and sustainability. Based on disruptive business concepts captured by Euromonitor International in 100 countries, we discuss how the travel industry leveraged innovation to survive the earthquake caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that abruptly interrupted global travel and tourism in 2020. From the most sophisticated technological solutions to the simplest, we will explore the best practices that have helped businesses and communities get back on their feet.

Session date and time: Tuesday, 10th August at 12:00PM BRT
