The Global Rise in Age Compression

Global toy markets are evolving, particularly along the developing and emerging market fault lines, as developed market parents are more tech savvy and having fewer children at a much later age while emerging markets offer strong toy opportunities due to family income growth, but also have a tough mobile-first environment to overcome. Together this is giving rise to an acceleration of age compression, where children transition away from traditional toy play at a younger age.

This presentation aims to encourage industry peers to think about the future of toys and games and the growing impact of video games and new technologies.

    Making Calories Count
    Speaker name(s) and title(s):
    Sara Petersson, senior research analyst
    Session description:
    After salt there was sugar, and today the attention has steered on to calories. Should this new area of focus relate to the calorie density of food, or rather calories per serving? Passport Nutrition data shows there is a huge discrepancy among suggested serving sizes, pack sizes and nutrient content in key packaged food and drink categories; this may tamper with consumers’ ‘adequate’ calorie consumption. This presentation investigates this topic further and explores what can be done next to aid the fight against obesity.
    Session date and time:
    Tue, 27/11/2018 - 2:35pm to 3:00pm, Hi Conference Discovery Theatre
