Session title: Payments digitalization: Shifting market frontiers in Asia Pacific & Africa
Speaker name: Kinda Chebib, Research Consultant
Session description: The days when customers would visit their bank to transfer money, pay or view their transactions is fast becoming a thing of the past. With the proliferation of the mobile phone and the increase in mobile banking, typical payment tasks can now happen with a simple click, mobile touch or via a fob. This changing consumer behaviour and more positive perception of e-payments have opened the door to digital payment growth and today AI and blockchain are set to revolutionise payments and beyond.
As digital payment systems become increasingly competitive, banks, card companies, tech giants, and blockchain ventures are all competing for relevance. In this race for payment technology advancement, activities in both Asia Pacific and Africa are of interest.
Session date and time: Friday 26 April at 9.50 am CET
