Event description: Hosted by the Adventure Travel Trade Association, The Adventure Travel World Summit  is the premier gathering of the adventure travel industry. The theme of the Summit will be “Viva la revolucion de la aventura!” Chile is poised to showcase its adventure potential to nearly 700 delegates from around the globe that will gather to learn, to be inspired and to connect more deeply with the $263 billion adventure travel sector. Throughout the plenary sessions, passionate speakers including influential writers and entrepreneurs will share examples of acts of courage, challenges to the status quo, defense of values — and ask how delegates will be part of the adventure revolution. Current session speakers will deliver educational keynotes and sessions focused on adventure travel standards, partnerships and innovation while keeping an eye on marketing to international audiences and community development best practices.

Presentation description:   Join Caroline Bremner, Head of Travel, and Mike Jozwik, Global Consulting Research Director, looking at travel through a future lens. In the presentation, we’ll reset our thinking to 2030, where the world population will grow to over 8 billion, more than 5 billion of these people will live in urban areas and over half a million households will become middle class. Great opportunities arise  for the adventure travel industry but also threats as we witness unprecedented levels of demand and an ensuing capacity crunch. Key themes will be Tomorrow’s Adventurers, Hyper-connectivity and The Mindful Traveler. With the rise of Asia, we’re expecting a much more diverse traveler mix and technology requires brands to engage with consumers in a much more responsive and personalized way than ever before. Several future scenarios will illustrate how adventure travel brands can prepare for the future where sustainability will be fundamental to the wider travel industry and boundaries between mainstream and specialist become increasingly blurred.
