Although short-Term rentals are gaining momentum in Southeast Asia, many countries are still experiencing slow growth of this category. Both Singapore and Malaysia, for example, recorded the lowest value growth for short-term rentals in the region. In Singapore, this is mainly due to regulations and safety concerns, and in Malaysia because of lack of marketing activity. In Thailand, disruption of permanent residents is a concern even though Airbnb is strong in the country.
