In 2015, the global retail volume of small appliances grew at a mere 3 percent, but the global retail volume of light fryers grew by 15 percent. In fact, one quarter of the global fryer market is made up of light fryers, and these appliances are gaining traction in the Latin America and Asia-Pacific markets, specifically. In Brazil, for instance, there is a large government campaign promoting active and healthy lifestyles, and light fryers are seen as a healthy alternative to deep fryers. In China, where Western food and influences are becoming more mainstream, consumers who want to control their weight but still enjoy Western foods are buying light fryers. With the popularity of light fryers becoming a world-wide phenomenon, they are set to take one-third of the fryer market by 2020.
