Presentation title: Global Opportunities for Plastic Closures in Foods: the Need to Add Value
Abstract: In examining global packaging trends and outlining key avenues of growth for plastic closures in foods, Euromonitor’s Senior Packaging Analyst Karine Dussimon will discuss the importance of raising a product’s value through innovation. The dominant plastic screws will not grow quite as fast as liquid carton closures which are benefiting from increasing consumption of sour milk drinks in Russia. Plastic dispensers are expanding position in table sauces, also benefiting from the shift from individual flexible plastic packs to re-closable PET bottles in Southeast Asia. Plastic overcaps are particularly dynamic in baby food although are also facing competition from dispensers which offer greater convenience.
