Retail sales in Brazil are expected to increase as a result of the World Cup. An influx of tourists as well as increasing domestic spend are strong drivers of growth. Electronics and appliance retailers will fare particularly well as Brazilians purchase TVs to watch the event. Sales at sporting goods stores will increase as consumers buy clothing emblazoned with their team’s logo. The retailing market in Brazil already grew by three percent in 2013 and is expected to reach five percent growth in 2014 due to the impact of the World Cup.
