Euromonitor International presented at the Canadian Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council’s National Pet Industry Trade Show in late 2013, highlighting key trends in pet care research and projections for 2014. The pet care industry faces challenges in the upcoming years as the pet population in many markets faces a slowdown in growth.
Innovation is a key in the pet industry as manufacturers are looking to add value to products, including an emphasis on natural and eco-friendly ingredients and components across pet food and pet care products, as well as fresh and frozen foods and products positioned as bonding experience for pets and their ‘parents’. Svetlana Uduslivaia, Senior Research Analyst at Euromonitor, explains some of the key trends in the pet care industry leading into 2014.
