The global internet advertising industry is projected to reach US $100 billion by 2017, driven by the United States, which is the largest country for internet advertising. However, the most prominent country for growth in the internet advertising industry will be China. China generated sales of more than US $8.9 billion in 2012, and Euromonitor predicts China will become the second most profitable country for internet advertising by 2017. This growth will be driven by the massive number of internet users in China. More than half a billion people currently use the internet in the country, and that number is expected to grow by another 200 million by 2017.
