Such is the economic impact of Brazilians in the US that other destinations around the world are keen to tap into this growing source market. A strong currency and a growing economy are transforming Brazilians into avid shoppers as high import tariffs at home makes shopping abroad worth the trip. In 2011, Brazilians spent on average US$1,700 per trip—higher than the US$1,000 global spend per trip.
