PayPal is moving from online to offline payments through acquisitions and its own innovations including PayPal here, a credit and debit card reader that plugs into a smartphone. At the beginning of the year, PayPal started testing its point of service software at some Home Depot locations. This service only requires a user to enter their phone number and PIN, meaning there are no cards or smartphones involved. With this payment method, PayPal seems to be moving past the leather and mobile wallet to no wallet at all.
