Event Description: Fi Conferences’ Innovations in Beverages will outline the huge international profits available for those beverage manufacturers innovative enough to take advantage; from ways of meeting consumer demands, working around regulatory hurdles and overcoming technical challenges, to exploring growth categories and emerging market opportunities.
Euromonitor’s Presentation: Diana Cowland, Health and Wellness Research Analyst will present, “Outlining consumer demands around health and natural to develop beverages that fit today’s trends.”
In this presentation, Cowland looks at how healthy drinks are increasingly catching the attention of consumers. In the UK, for example, which has the second highest per capita consumption of superfruit juice globally, health and wellness soft drinks are set to see a CAGR of 1.9% over 2010-2015, compared to 1.5% for total soft drinks.
But the question remains: What do consumers associate with health and how do these perceptions differ globally?
- Fortified/Functional Beverages, driven by North America, are out-growing reduced-sugar drinks in all regions apart from Asia Pacific.
- Fruit/vegetable juice, well renowned for its health credentials, is set to see absolute growth of US$18.7 billion globally over 2011-2016, but this will be driven by the emerging markets.
- Health is even a key factor in carbonates. In Western Europe, for example, low calorie carbonates saw growth of US$1.2 billion over 2006-2011, five times greater than regular cola carbonates.
