Smaller products like wearables and wireless speakers are expected to lead sales for consumer electronics this holiday season. 2016 will be the year for fashion-focused wearables from watchmakers like Fossil and Titan. Speakers from brands like JBL and Ultimate Ears are also popular gift options, particularly for the millennials. Within video games, consoles will once again be a focal point of holiday shopping. With few 4K TVs on the market Sony’s new PlayStation Pro will likely have a limited impact, with greater results expected for other ventures like the PlayStation VR or the PlayStation 4 Slim’s competition with Microsoft’s Xbox One S. Nintendo will have a limited presence in static consoles in 2016, choosing instead to launch a new console in March 2017 and focusing its holiday efforts this year to hand-held gaming and a new Pokémon title.
