Trends in the Consumption of Natural Colours in Packaged Foods

February 15th, 2016

The current move away from artificial colours and towards natural ones in packaged food is due to a trend in clean labeling, where consumers scrutinize ingredients, shunning products with ingredients that they are unfamiliar with or that are artificial. As more and more companies make the switch, larger, more established packaged food companies are under intense pressure to switch from artificial to natural colours. Mars, for instance, recently made an announcement that it would remove all artificial colours from their global product range, nearly a year after statements from Nestle and Hershey.
