The health and wellness industry is in its infancy in South America, and regulations are just starting to be put in place to help curb health problems such as obesity and high cholesterol. Fatima Linares, Syndicated Research Manager, and Alfonso De Los Reyes, Research Analyst at Euromonitor, discuss current and proposed legislation in different countries in South America. Many of these initiatives focus on educating children about healthy eating, as the obesity rate in the area is rising at an alarming rate.

La industria de Health and Wellness en la región sudamericana está aún en su infancia.  Por este motivo, los países están empezando a emitir regulaciones para controlar temas de salud como la obesidad y problemas de colesterol alto.  Fatima Linares, Gerente de Investigación Sindicada y Alfonso De Los Reyes, Analista de Investigación en Euromonitor, analizan las legislaciones vigentes y propuestas en los distintos países del Cono Sur.  Muchas de estas iniciativas se centran en educar a los niños acerca de la alimentación saludable ya que los índices de obesidad en la región están creciendo a tasas alarmantes.
