Pet Humanization Creating Opportunities for Packaging

Pets are increasingly being treated as members of the family. This trend, known as pet humanization, helps the packaging industry, states Regina Maiseviciute, Packaging Research Analyst at Euromonitor, as pet owners invest in premium pet food and treats featuring sophisticated packaging. The metal food can, once widely used in pet food, is losing share to pack types such as flexible plastic stand up pouches. These pouches are smaller in size, allowing the pet to always be fed a fresh helping of food.
