Western European countries facing the most economic difficulty in recent months - Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain – are also showing declines in wine consumption. Wine producers are combating an oversaturated market in Western Europe, explains Katharina Oldenkotte, senior research analyst at Euromonitor. Therefore, new trends, such as environmentally-friendly and organic wine, are seen as ways to break the negative growth of wine in Western Europe.
