The soft commodities market continued its negative tone in May mostly due to the bleak global economic outlook. The US dollar index continued its rise, and consumer confidence remained low. Francisco Redruello, senior food analyst at Euromonitor, gives his explanation for current drops in markets such as corn, sugar and cocoa beans, and offers an outlook for June as well.
